The Sussex Community Association is your neighborhood association if you live in our boundaries.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1960 by Sussex neighbors to build community within our section of Shaker Heights, Ohio. There are four ways we accomplish our mission:
1. We represent the interests of more than 1,000 Sussex area households in the affairs of Shaker Heights in oreder to ensure that both Sussex and Shaker Heights remain highly desireable places to live.
2. We foster good community relations through the promotion of neighboorhood socials and beautification activities.
3. We keep residents informed about local and State issues by sponsoring and organizing programs for the public, and
4. We facilitate communication between residents in the area through the internet and the publication of a quarterly newsletter.

Reasons to join
Membership dues support our efforts in the following ways:
1. Publication and distibution of a quarterly newsletter.
2. Access to Inside Sussex. The restricted internet section only available to Sussex members. Inside Sussex allows interaction with other members and valuable business member discounts to Sussex members.
3. Support for community events.
4. Neighborhood beautification projects, including the hanging baskets you see on Lomond Boulevard.
5. Informational programs for the community.
6. Your representation in the affairs of Shaker Heights, at meetings of the City Council, School and Library Boards, Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Recreation Committee.
How much does it cost to join?
We have a variety of membership options. All have benefits and all are based on a Calendar year:
Individual/Family Membership Dues
1. If you live in the Sussex Community, you and your family can join as a Resident membership for $10.00 annually/ $5.00 after June 30th.
2. We are also open to Associate memberships if you live outside of Sussex. Associate memberships are non voting and dues are also $10/00 annually/$5.00 after June 30th.
Business Membership Dues - this membership is unique in that you have two opportunities for marketing yourself to our community. First, all Business memberships are provided free advertising in our quarterly newsletter. Second, they are asked to provide an internet coupon discount to members of the Sussex Association. That coupon will be on the business coupon page on on the Inside Sussex section of the website.
3. If you have a home based business in Sussex, you can purchase a Resident business membership in lieu of the standard Resident membership. The dues for this type of membership are $20.00 annually/$10.00 after June 30th.
4. Sussex Business memberships are offered to the businesses located in the Sussex boundaries at a cost of $40.00 annually/ $20.00 after June 30th.
The goal of membership in Sussex is to encourage the interaction of residents and business for the benefit of each.
